Joint Press Statement on Human Rights Day 2025>”Our Everyday Essential

“Human rights are our compass in turbulent times — guiding and steadying us through uncertainty,” said UN Human Rights Chief, Volker Türk, marking the launch of the 2025 Human Rights Day campaign, celebrated on December 10.

In 2025, the very foundations of human rights have been put to the test.

“Inequalities are rising, conflicts are raging, the climate emergency is mounting, and some are creating and trying to deepen divisions within societies and between countries. But we must not give up,” said Türk in his video message marking the 80th anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945.

Executive Director, Harqatun Nizwa shares message in commemoration of International Women Human Rights Defenders Day 2025 : Resisting Pushback, Powering Progress

Strength in Solidarity: Protecting Women Human Rights Defenders

29th November of every year is a momentous commemoration of the diligent work of Women Human Rights Defenders. This year’s commemoration was no exception to the previous years with Women Human Rights Defenders Network Central Java and East Java  appreciating the diligent and selfless contribution of WHRDs to ensure rights of all are respected.

Today, 29 November, we celebrate International Women Human Rights Defenders’ Day. For me it is a day to remember all those Women Human Rights Defenders who I have spoken to or whose cases I have raised since taking up the mandate as executive director of TRIPLE-F in April 2021.

WHRDs face great personal risk for their human rights work on behalf of others. But they also face additional risks because of their gender. They defend women’s rights, LBTIQ+ rights, environmental rights, freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly and association. They fight peacefully against corruption, arbitrary detention, torture and many other human rights violations.

Resisting Pushback, Powering Progress

Statement by TRIPLE-F Executive Director  on the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

TRIPLE-F is marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence from 25 November to 10 December 2025, under the global theme set by the UN Secretary-General’s campaign:UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girlsn! .” In Indonesia, violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the community level. Despite many countries passing laws to combat violence against women, weak enforcement and discriminatory social norms remain significant problems.

Violence costs us all.

Join us in demanding investments and actions to end it.

Statement by the TRIPLE-F on the Commemoration of the 2025 International Women’s Day

TRIPLE-F joins the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 under the theme “For ALL women and girls: Rights, Equality and Empowerment.” This year’s theme underscores the urgent need for strategic investments in women and girls to drive sustainable development, equality, and social justice.

Women play a pivotal role in shaping societies, yet they continue to face systemic barriers that hinder their progress. Across globe and Indonesia and beyond, women and girls still grapple with gender-based violence, limited access to education and healthcare, economic exclusion, and under representation in decision-making spaces. As we mark this significant day, TRIPLE-F reaffirms its commitment to advancing women’s rights and fostering an environment where gender equality is not just an aspiration but a lived reality.

Investment in women is an investment in our collective future. When women are empowered through education, economic opportunities, and leadership roles, entire communities prosper. Governments, civil society, and the private sector must prioritize policies and initiatives that bridge the gender gap and eliminate discriminatory practices that hinder women’s full participation in all spheres of life.

On this occasion, TRIPLE-F calls on Indonesia government to:

  • Strengthen legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms to protect women and girls from gender-based violence and discrimination.
  • Allocate increased funding for young women’s education, healthcare, and economic empowerment programs.
  • Promote young women’s leadership and ensure equal representation in political and governance structures.
  • Foster partnerships that amplify young feminist voices and address the root causes of gender inequality.

As we celebrate the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women, we must also recognize the work that remains in the fight for gender equality. TRIPLE-F remains steadfast in advocating for a just and inclusive society where every young woman and girl can realize her full potential.

Together, let us commit to investing in women to accelerate progress for a more equitable and prosperous world.
