Women Human Rights Defenders School

Each year, around 25 young feminist between the ages of 18 and 27 are selected to participate in the program. After being divided into groups, they sit in on 12 lectures and workshops, divided between the areas of Salatiga and West Papua. The topics range from freedom of media to the positions of the regions minority groups, and are being taught by experts, researches and operatives already active in the field. The women human rights themes are put in context through educational study visits to West Papua and  West Borneo. Our learning modules demystify the UN human rights system and build capacity to push for change. Discover new tools, insider tips, defender stories, and more! At the regional levels, we work with local partners to provide defenders with highly targeted and tailored trainings, workshops and advocacy support, including to environmental human rights defenders, women human rights defenders, LBTQI+ rights defenders, and to defenders in highly restrictive environments. We bring together inspiring young Feminist activists from region of West Borneo, Java and West Papua in our flagship hybrid learning programme the Women Human Rights Defender. Participants complete an interactive human rights online course through the tailor-made our platform n the TRIPLE-F school, where they gain the knowledge and skills they need to integrate the UN human rights system into their existing work at the national level in a strategic manner. They also receive coaching and advocacy support, opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and networking, and an opportunity to prepare for and engage in lobbying and advocacy activities at the TRIPLE-F in Salatiga through an intensive 4 days-training in Salatiga.
